Tuesday morning, at approximately 6:44am, Fairmont Police Officers responded to the 500 block of North Main Street in Fairmont for a welfare check on a male who was reportedly laying alongside the roadway next to a bicycle.
Officers arrived shortly after and found a 53 year old man unresponsive. Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service was immediately called to assist at the location. The man was determined to be deceased at the scene.
Upon initial investigation, the incident appears to be consistent with a medical issue. There are no concerns of foul play or for the safety of the community. The name of the man is not being released at this time, pending notification of family.
The Fairmont Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo Clinic Ambulance service.
The incident remains under investigation.
