Faribault County Officials Encourage Residents with Damage From June Rains to Share Damage With the County

The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office and emergency management is assisting the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Homeland Security and Emergency Management in collecting information on property damage.

Faribault County’s emergency management encourage individuals with damage from heavy rains dating back to June 16th, to share their damage estimates with the county as they work to get assistance for individuals from the state.

Residents can request the link from Sue Jahnke by emailing [email protected] or call 526-4879 for more information.

Once you submit the form, a representative from FEMA and/or MN HSEM will contact you.

Fast Moving Blue Earth River Continues to Prevent Crews from Inspecting the County Road 9 Bridge

Fast moving water from the Blue Earth River continues to hamper efforts by crews to inspect a county bridge just south of the Rapidan Dam.

After a partial failure of the Rapidan Dam in late June, Blue Earth County Officials turned to the stability of the County Road 9 bridge.

The bridge remains closed to pedestrians and vehicle traffic.  Blue Earth County and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources continue to monitor the speed of the river and the county and state transportation department continue monitoring the bridge.

Following the flooding, Blue Earth County Officials are also encouraging residents and business owners to use the county’s website to file property damage reports.

Faribault County FSA Office Reminds Producers that the Deadline for Acreage Reporting is the End of the Day Monday, July 15th

The Faribault County FSA Office reminds producers that just 5 days remain before the acreage reporting deadline.  Faribault County FSA Executive Director Nicki Miranowski says the program basically affects all producers in the county because if you want to receive any payment or take out a commodity loan, you need to file your acreage report.

Miranowski says a report needs to be filed with both FSA and crop insurance by Monday.

Miranowski adds that crop insurance prefers that producers report to FSA first because you will receive a copy of your documented maps and your producer print, which shows what you have reported as planted acres.

Acreage reports need to be signed by 4:30pm Monday or a late filing fee will be applied, which starts at $46.00 per FSA farm number.  Producers with questions can call or stop by the FSA office.
