Two Teens Dead and a Man and His Daughter Injured in Head On Collision South of Mankato

Two teens died and a Madison Lake man and his teenage daughter were seriously injured in a head on vehicle collision followed by fire Saturday afternoon on Blue Earth County Road 90, about four miles southwest of Mankato.

Eighteen year old Jordis Lee Lewis of Lake Crystal and 17 year old Jackson Riley Tester of Mankato, died at the scene of the 12:54pm crash on County Road 90, near Indian Lake Road, according to a Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office news released.  Deputies said witnesses reported that when the two cars crashed head-on, one vehicle burst into flames.

Fifty six year old Dennis James Hanson and 13 year old Kaleia Madelyn Hanson suffered serious injuries, but non life threatening injuries in the crash, the release said.

A preliminary investigation determined Lewis was driving a westbound 2015 Ford Fusion on County Road 90 and Tester was the passenger.  Hanson was driving an eastbound 2013 Audi A5 on County Road 90.

The press release said that, although the crash remains under investigation, Lewis may have been attempting to pass other westbound traffic at the time of the crash.
