Over Half of Corn Has Been Planted in MN & Iowa

The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service released the crop progress report for Minnesota and Iowa for the week ending May 12th.  Fieldwork included tillage, planting and spraying.

In Minnesota, corn planted was at 56%, on track with last year, with 14% emerged.  Iowa’s corn planted reached 57% complete, 1 week behind last year with 26% emerged.

Soybeans planted reached 26% in Minnesota, with 4% emerged, 4 days behind last year.  In Iowa, 39% of the soybean crop has been planted, 1 week behind last year with 13% of planted soybeans emerged.
