Frost Man Charged After Leading Authorities on Chase

A vehicle chase in Blue Earth early Monday morning has led to the arrest of a Frost man.

According to the Blue Earth Police Department, at approximately 1:37am Monday, officers observed a 2019 Ford F550 that was parked in a traffic lane on Highway 169.

The driver of the vehicle, Cory Tristan Hansen, was holding a loaded 12 gauge shotgun in his lap.  After negotiations with Hansen failed, officers were able to wrestle the gun from him as he began to drive away.  One officer was still on the vehicle as Hansen was driving away.  The officer jumped from the vehicle and sustained an undisclosed injury.

Hansen then led officers on a 45 minute chase through the City of Blue Earth and Faribault County, damaging several squad cars.  At 2:35am, officers from the Blue Earth Police Department and the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office were able to apprehend Hansen when they boxed him in on the 100 block of East 8th Street in Blue Earth.

Hansen is currently in the Faribault County Jail awaiting charges of 2nd degree assault, 4th degree assault, fleeing an officer and 4th degree DWI.
