Blue Earth County is Investigating After the Outdoor Warning Sirens Didn’t Sound During the Monthly Test

An investigation is underway after the outdoor warning sirens in Blue Earth County and North Mankato didn’t sound during the monthly test on Wednesday.

Blue Earth County Dispatch attempted the monthly test of the outdoor warning sirens throughout the county at 1pm on Wednesday, May 1st.  The sirens failed to sound.  The source of the issue is unknown, and personnel are actively working to identify the issue and correct the problem.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office says all Blue Earth County sirens are affected, including those in Mankato and within municipalities throughout the county.

Authorities say an additional siren test will be conducted once the problem is identified and corrected with notification in advance.
