This is Severe Weather Week in Minnesota

Each year Homeland Security and Emergency Management, in collaboration with the National Weather Service, sponsors Severe Weather Week in Minnesota.  Faribault County is participating in efforts April 8-12 to refresh, remind and educate residents about the seasonal threats from severe weather and how to avoid them.

Severe Weather Week includes statewide tornado drills.  Outdoor warning sirens and NOAA Weather Radios will sound in a simulated tornado warning at 1:45pm and 6:45pm Thursday.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the tornado drills and take advantage of the week to review their emergency procedures.

Each day this week is dedicated to promoting one weather safety theme.

Monday’s focus is weather alerts and warning; Tuesday’s is severe weather, lightening and hail; Wednesday’s is floods and flash floods; Thursday’s is tornadoes; and Friday’s is extreme heat and wildfires.
