MN Unemployment Rate Holds Steady in February

Minnesota’s latest jobs report shows a steady hold in February.

The state’s Department of Employment and Economic Development says the unemployment rate stayed at 2.7%, while the national rate went up two tenths of a percentage point to 3.9%.

Over the month in Minnesota, six sectors gained jobs on a seasonally adjusted basis, including government gaining 1,700 jobs, professional and business services gaining 1,200 and manufacturing gaining 800 jobs.

Five sectors lost jobs over the month in Minnesota, with the largest losses in construction, which lost 3,000 jobs, Trade, Transportation & Utilities, which lost 600 jobs and Financial Activities, which lost 500 jobs.

The state’s labor force participation rate is 67.9%, five points higher than the 62.5% national average.
