The City of Wells will be holding a public open house for the 2024 Street and Utility Improvement project in Wells on this evening from 6-7pm, at the Wells Community Center. The city is currently completing the design of the project.
The full street reconstruction area includes 6th Avenue NW form 2nd Street NW to its north dead end, 5th Avenue SW from 1st Street SW to Franklin Street and 5th Avenue NW from Franklin Street to 3rd Street NW.
The project will reconstruct all underground infrastructure and resurface all roadways in the area. The project will improve the road surface, sidewalk routes, upgrade underground utilities and improve stormwater drainage. Some trees will need to be removed due to the improvements listed above.
The mill and overlay area includes 5th Street SW from 2nd Avenue SW to Broadway. The project will reconstruct pedestrian sidewalk ramps at the 1st Avenue SW intersection and resurface the roadway. Som stormwater drainage improvements will also occur in the alley south of 5th Street SW between 1st Avenue SW and Broadway.
The purpose of the open house is to discuss the project schedule, design plans, and answer any questions and concerns Wells residents may have.
