Thursday is the Deadline for the Livestock Indemnity Program

The Livestock Indemnity Program provides benefits to livestock producers for livestock deaths in excess of normal mortality caused by adverse weather or by attacks by animals reintroduced into the wild by the Federal Government.

Faribault County FSA Executive Director Nicki Miranowski says the deadline for the program is Thursday, February 29th, for 2023 losses.

Miranowski says livestock producers need to provide beginning inventory documentation, weather documentation stating the exact weather conditions and documentation regarding the loss itself.

LIP payments are equal to 75% of the average fair market value of the livestock.  Producers with questions are encouraged to contact their local FSA office.
