The Blue Earth City Council met Tuesday and during a portion of the meeting held the 2023 Street and Utility Project Final Assessment Hearing. The hearing opened with City Engineer Ben Rosol giving those in attendance an overview of the assessment process.
Rosol then shared the improvements and the final project costs. The total cost for the 2023 projects was $4,478,731, with the cost to those benefitting from the project being assessed at just over $1 million.
The assessments can be paid in full or partially by November 1st, assessed to property taxes for 15 years at 5.51% interest. In any year, the property owner may pay that year’s interest and the outstanding principal.
After the hearing concluded, the City Council unanimously approved the assessment roll for the 2023 Street and Utility Project.
