The 924 area code is not coming to the region until August 30th, but the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission says callers need to start including the 507 area code when dialing starting January 30th.
The new area code is being added because phone numbers including the 507 area code is expected to run out by early 2025.
People with a 507 number have nothing to worry about, as their phone number will not be changing. Dialing 911 and other three digit numbers will remain the same.
The state says new area codes are popping up throughout the country.
The last time the state of Minnesota added new area codes was in 1999 with 952 and 763.
