Two People From Wells and a Mankato Woman Injured in Two Vehicle Accident North of Mankato

A two vehicle accident on Highway 22, just north of Mankato, injured two people from Wells and a Mankato woman on Monday night.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2018 Nissan Murano, driven by 77 year old Bonnie Marie Hugeback of Mankato, was traveling south on Highway 22, while a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 20 year old Erika Lynn Johannsen of Wells, was traveling north when they collided on Highway 22 at North Riverfront Drive in Lime Township.

There were 5 passengers in Johannsen’s vehicle, 30 year old Laura Patricia Mendoza of St. Peter and four juveniles ages 4,5,8 and 13, all of Wells.

Johannsen and Hugeback were both taken to a Mankato hospital with non-life threatening injures and the 4 year old boy was taken to Children’s Hospital, also with non-life threatening injuries.  Mendoza and the other 3 children were not injured.

The Patrol says everyone was wearing seatbelts.

Assisting at the scene were the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office, Mayo Ambulance and Kasota Fire.
