Kossuth County Board Removes Tjarks as Chairman Following Assualt Conviction

The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors voted to remove Roger Tjarks as Chairman of the Board during their meeting Tuesday morning, following Tjarks’ assault conviction last month.

Tjarks was convicted on a misdemeanor count of assault following a 1 day trial, after he allegedly poked Supervisor Kyle Stecker in the chest and threatened him during a closed session on July 11th.

After a lengthy discussion, the board voted 3-1 to remove Tjarks and appointed Stecker as the new chairman, with Tjarks voting against and Jack Plathe abstaining.  The board also appointed Carter Nath as the new vice chairman on a similar vote.  Court records show Tjarks will be sentence on December 13th.
