Alden – Conger Operating Levy Passed By Voters on Tuesday

An operating levy has gotten the green light from voters in the Alden-Conger Public School District.

The referendum passed by a vote of 276 “Yes” to 187 “No” on Tuesday.  The school district says that will increase its operating levy authority to $1,194 per student for 10 years, meaning another $557,000 of additional revenue annually.

Alden-Conger says that money is needed to offset declining enrollment and minimal new state revenue.  It says the increased levy will pay for essential student programming, maintaining small class sizes, sustaining the district’s technology initiative, long term financial stability, retaining and attracting quality staff and keeping pace with changing educational needs.
