Last Week’s Rain Brings Little Relief to Area, According to U.S. Drought Monitor

A Drought Monitor map for the state released on Thursday indicates several counties in the region are still remain drier than normal.

Conditions for about half of Martin County and most of Blue Earth County are listed as “abnormally dry,” while the other half of Martin and all of Faribault County continue to experience moderate drought, as are several townships near Blue Earth County’s east border.

In the southeast portion of the state, large areas of Mower and Fillmore counties that experienced severe and extreme drought last week, continue to suffer from the driest conditions in the state.

The map update does not include rainfall from the last few days.
