Many area residents may be wondering what’s around the Jolly Green Giant statue’s neck.
The Jolly Green Giant in Blue Earth will be featured on CBS’ new season of “Survivor” and is donning the show’s trademarked bandana or “Buff”.
The show’s 45th season will display the 55 food statue as part of its “Survivor Buff Takeover,” showing “famous icons, landmarks and statues in cities from coast to coast.”
The statue has been standing tall along Highway 169 in Blue Earth since 1979. It’s the only area of the Midwest to be included in the promo.
The other landmarks included in the “Survivor” promo will be Ripley’s Believe it or Not! In Hollywood, California; Make Way for Ducklings in Boston, Massachusetts; Forever Marilyn in Palm Springs, California; Monster Monument at Dover Motor Speedway in Dover, Delaware; the Tuska Statue at the University of Alabama; Ralphie the Buffalo Statue at the University of Colorado; and Gulfstream Park’s Pegasus and the Dragon in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
The campaign, going on now, runs up to the season premiere on September 27th.
