South Dakota Man Killed When His Car Collided With a Waseca School Bus, Saturday Night on I-90

A South Dakota man was killed when the car he was driving collided with a school bus carrying members of the Waseca Volleyball team Saturday night on Interstate 90.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the accident happened at approximately 8:42pm, on I-90 at Highway 22, south of Wells, when the eastbound bus driven by 79 year old Charles Cone of Waseca and a westbound Ford Mustang driven by 55 year old Mark Allen Tigner of Brandon, South Dakota, collided in a construction zone.  Tigner was killed in the crash.

Cone and a passenger, 24 year old Kelsey Jo Kahnke of Waseca, suffered no apparent injuries.  The Patrol says 7 juvenile girls, ranging in age from 14 to 16, were taken to the Albert Lea Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the Wells Ambulance, Wells Fire Department, Kiester Ambulance, Kiester Fire Department, Bricelyn Ambulance, Bricelyn Fire Department, Wells Police Department and the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office.
