Authorities Say Alcohol Believed to be a Factor in One Vehicle Accident that Injured a Wells Man

A Wells man was injured in a one vehicle accident east of Kiester early Saturday morning.

According to the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 3:06am, they received a report of a vehicle on its roof in the west ditch in the area of 3742 600th Ave., two and a half miles east of Kiester.

During the investigation, it was determined that the 2019 Chevy Equinox driven by 23 year old Thomas Redig of Wells left the roadway, entering the west ditch, hit a field approach and went airborne, rolling and coming to rest on its roof.

Redig was found inside the vehicle unresponsive, he regained consciousness and was removed from the vehicle, receiving emergency care before being airlifted to Rochester with unknown injuries.

It was later learned that Redig suffered non life threatening injuries.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Kiester Fire Department and Kiester Ambulance.
