924 will soon join the existing 507 area code serving southern Minnesota as a new area code.
The Public Utilities Commission approved the new area code on March 30th so that residents and businesses have access to enough telephone numbers to serve the area.
By 2025, the 507 area code is expected to run out of new numbers. Existing customers with 507 will keep their phone numbers, but new customers, or additional lines, may be assigned the new 924 area code once it’s activated.
