Fairmont Man Arrested For Drug and Gun Charges Following a One Vehicle Accident on Sunday Night

A Fairmont man was arrested Sunday evening following a one vehicle accident in Sioux County, Iowa.

The accident occurred around 9:45pm on Highway 60 when 23 year old Shawn Graplar lost control of the vehicle, entered the east ditch and struck a fence line and poles, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

Graplar sustained minor injuries and was checked by EMS, though declined further medical attention.

Deputies suspected that Grapler was under the influence of a drug and discovered a loaded firearm and a second unloaded firearm in the vehicle.

Graplar was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated-drugs, possession or carrying of dangerous weapons while under the influence, possession of marijuana, possession of CBD and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
