Faribault County Offering $50 Beaver Bounty

The Faribault County Commissioner’s Office is offering beaver bounties to curb the beaver population.

Over the last few years, there has been a dramatic increase in the local beaver population, and they’ve been wreaking havoc on the Blue Earth River, it’s offshoot creeks and drainage ditches.  The problem has grown enough so that the county offers a bounty of $50.

Since 2018, the trapping number in the county has risen from just 80 that year, to 316 in 2022, resulting in $15,800 in beaver bounties paid out by the county.

All trappers have to do is notify the drainage department of the trapping location and bring the tails into the office for payment.
