Iowa’s Minimum Wage to Remain the Same for 2023

The minimum wage in Iowa is set to remain at $7.25/hr for 2023.  Though there were some exceptions to Iowa’s minimum wage, it is the same as the federal minimum wage, which has not been adjusted since July of 2009.

Currently, there is no legislation being considered at the state level that would raise Iowa’s minimum wage above the federal level.  Wage increase in general in Iowa are not in the forecast, even on the heels of the economic downturn that Iowa has seen this last year with unemployment numbers on the rise and Iowans suffering at the hand of the nationwide average inflation rate of 7.86%.

Iowa’s minimum wage history has been stagnant since 2009, when wages were raised from $5.15 per hour.
