At a previous Blue Earth City Council Meetings, the City Council excitedly made an effort to draw in a local High School Student to join the council on an honorary basis, to experience the fundamentals of city government.
At the last council meeting, the council approved Blue Earth Area High School Senior, Cass Davis, to serve as an honorary City Council Member in 2023.
The intent is to expose the youth of the area to how the local government functions and to maybe even encourage these students to go on to pursue careers in public service at the local level. As an honorary member, Davis will sit in on meetings, hear proposed legislature, give and receive input on the matters and ultimately, establish a voice for the youth in the community within the walls of City Hall.
