USC School Board Receives Update on Superintendent Search and Sets Next Year’s Tax Levy

At last Tuesday’s meeting of the United South Central School Board, Harold Remme of the South Central Service Cooperative, updated the board on the ongoing search for a new Superintendent.  Current Superintendent Keith Fleming is retiring.  Remme presented a list of board meetings that will be utilized mainly for interviews of candidates for the position.

The Board also held their annual Truth in Taxation Hearing and afterwards set the property tax levy for next year at just under $3.8 million, an increase of 7.14% over the current year.

The board also approved an agreement with the City of Wells hiring DJ Bullerman to fill the role of School Resource Officer.  Bullerman was previously the School Resource Officer for the Blue Earth Area School District.

The board also approved the resignations of Special Education teacher Rachael Korman and Behavior Interventionist Courtney Waters.  They also approved several contracts.

Lastly, the board thanked 3 retiring Board Members Dale Stevermer, Tom Legred and Jon Feist, for their years of service on the board.
