Corn Harvest Nearly Complete in MN & Iowa as Snow and Cold Limit Farmers

Snow and freezing temperatures limited Minnesota farmers to just 3.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending November 20th, according to the USDA.

Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 22% very short, 35% short, 42% adequate and 1% surplus.  Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 19% very short, 36% short, 45% adequate and 0% surplus.

Corn harvested for grain was at 98% complete.

In Iowa, the USDA says there were 4.8 days suitable for fieldwork last week.

Topsoil moisture was rated at 17% very short, 35% short, 47% adequate and 1% surplus.  Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 24% very short, 38% short, 37% adequate and 1% surplus.

Harvest of corn for grain was virtually complete at 97%.
