County Residents Reminded to File Homestead Application By Year’s End

Residents of Faribault County are reminded that if you purchased a property in the past year, you have until December 31st to contact the Assessor’s office to file a homestead application.

Failure to file a homestead application will affect the amount of property tax you pay.  You must also contact the Assessor’s office if the use of the property has changed during the past year.

Once you have been granted a homestead classification, no further applications are necessary, unless they are specifically requested by the County Assessor.

If you have questions about a homestead classification, contact the Assessor’s office at 507-526-6201.
