Blue Earth Council Receives Update on Sod Concerns, approves Honorary Council Member Program

At the Blue Earth City Council Meeting this past Monday, the council discussed the 2022 Street Improvement Project.

City Engineer Ben Rosol, of Bolton & Menk, said that the project is just about wrapped up, but that there is a concern a about the project contractor’s insufficient watering of newly planted sod.

Rosol said he has been in contact with the project contractor, Holtmeier Construction, about the issue.  Bolton & Menk will evaluate the condition of the sod in the spring.

The council also approved the implementation of a new Honorary Council Member Program, which will allow a Blue Earth Area High School junior or senior sit as an honorary member of the Blue Earth City Council next year, from January through May.

Applications for the position will be due on December 7th and the student selected for the position will be announce on December 19th.
