1 Adult and 2 Juveniles On Prairie Lakes Transit Bus Injured in Semi Collision Near Bricelyn

On Friday, at approximately 3:38pm, the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 2 vehicle crash west of Bricelyn at the intersection of County Road 2 and 510th Ave.

A 1992 International semi pulling a grain trailer, driven by 23 year old Roger Ziegler of rural Easton, approached the stop sign at the intersection while heading south and stopped.  Ziegler continued across the intersection, not seeing the eastbound Prairie Lakes Transit bus driven by 79 year old Darlene Buchmeier of Fairmont.  The bus struck the side of the semi, causing the semi to jack knife on the south side of the intersection.

The bus had two passengers, a juvenile male and a juvenile femail.  Buchmeier was transported to UHD ER by Bricelyn Ambulance with non life threatening injuries.  The juveniles were taken by parents to the ER as a precaution and the juvenile male sustained a strained back and whiplash, while the juvenile female sustained a sprained ankle, thumb and a concussion.  Ziegler was not injured in the accident.

The Bricelyn Fire Department assisted at the scene.
