The Faribault County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday morning and accepted the Federal Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund Grant in the amount of $100,000.
Commissioner Greg Young said grant will be split into two payments and the County will receive $50,000 immediately.
The grant money is coming at the perfect time for the County Courthouse upgrades. May ceilings and walls in the Courthouse have lead paint, which will need to be removed.
The board signed a change order with the contractor on Tuesday to remove the paint, at a cost not to exceed $92,000.
Faribault County will receive a second allocation of $50,000 of the grant sometime in 2023.
