Minnesota had 5.9 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending September 11th, according to the USDA. Most of the state saw higher than normal temperatures and little rain.
Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 7% very short, 24% short, 67% adequate and 2% surplus.
Corn at or beyond the dough stage reached 97% and corn dented or beyond reached 73%. Corn mature was at 8%, over a week behind the 5 year average. Corn condition was 62% good to excellent. Corn silage was 20% harvested.
Soybeans coloring reached 49%. Soybeans dropping leaves was at 6%, 10 days behind average. Soybean condition was 65% good to excellent.
In Iowa, average rainfall across the state still left Iowa with 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork last week the USDA says.
Topsoil moisture supplies was rated 16% very short, 29% short, 54% adequate and 1% surplus.
Corn in the dough stage or beyond was 98%, 2 days ahead of the 5 year average, 84% of Iowa’s corn crop has reached the dent stage or beyond, 1 day behind last year and 23% of the state’s corn crop was mature, 2 days behind last year and 1 day behind the 5 year average. Corn condition fell 3 percentage points to 63% good to excellent.
With virtually all soybeans setting pods, 48% have reached coloring or beyond, 4 days behind last year and 2 days behind the 5 year average. Soybeans dropping leaves were at 9%, 1 week behind last year and 5 days behind average. Soybean condition dropped 3 percentage points to 63% good to excellent.
