Ledyard Man Accused of Stealing ATM in Ledyard, also Facing Charges in Palo Alto County

A man accused of stealing an ATM from a bank in Ledyard is now facing charges in Palo Alto County.

Twenty five year old Jacob Govern of Ledyard is accused of stealing a pickup and trailer from a boat ramp at Lost Island Lake on August 13th.  The trailer was located the following day in a farm drive near Lost Island Lake.

On Wednesday, August 17th, the stolen pickup and Govern were seen at a convenience store in Graettinger.  Govern had put gas in the vehicle and took off without paying.  Govern was then spotted with the stolen pickup on August 18th in surveillance video at the bank in Ledyard.  Meanwhile, authorities in Winnebago County were investigating some checks that had been stolen.  Surveillance video showed Govern at Wal-Mart in Mankato trying to cash the checks.

Govern was located in the stolen pickup on August 19th in a parking lot in Fairmont where he was taken in to custody.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office has issued arrest warrants for Govern charging him with 1st degree theft, 5th degree theft and driving while barred.  Govern is currently being held on charges in Minnesota pending extradition to Iowa.
