The report of a break in at a bank in Ledyard led to the arrest of a Kossuth County man in Minnesota late last week.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received the report of a break in at Bank Plus in Ledyard around 6am last Thursday. Deputies responded to the scene and discovered someone had entered the building and attempted to forcefully remove the ATM machine inside. Evidence also showed the suspect tried to break the machine open, but was unsuccessful.
A description of the vehicle and suspect was sent to law enforcement agencies in Palo Alto, Emmet and Winnebago counties in Iowa, along with Martin and Faribault Counties in Minnesota. Law enforcement agencies in these counties have been investigating a string of break-ins and a stolen vehicle in these areas over the past few weeks.
Information gathered in the Bank Plus break in lead the agencies to identify a stole vehicle out of Palo Alto County and help gather evidence in several other crimes across the area.
The joint investigation led to the arrest of 25 year old Jacob Govern of Ledyard in Martin County, Minnesota on a charge of burglary and a warrant out of Winnebago County. Other agencies, including the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, are still gathering information and more charges are pending.
