Each year conservation trees can be purchased from the Soil and Water Conservation District for field and farmstead windbreaks. The trees are preordered and sold to landowners on a first come first served basis.
Fairbault County SWCD Co Program Administrator Nate Carr says that their office will be holding a tree open house on Friday, August 5th, from 8:30am to 3:30pm, at their office at the Ag Center in Blue Earth, for landowners who want to pre-order trees or just to see what’s available.
Free technical assistance is also available from the SWCD for developing a field or farmstead windbreak plan. The SWCD also has a tree planting service for planting a large number of trees, or offers use of a tree planter to Faribault County residents for a fee. Call 526-2388 or stop by their office in the Ag Center for further information.
