BEA Superintendent Says The Federal Government Will No Longer Provide Free Meals to Students

At Monday’s Blue Earth Area School Board meeting, Superintendent Mandy Fletcher presented updated information on the school’s lunch program.

The last couple of years, due to the COVID pandemic, the federal government has provided lunches at no cost to qualifying students, however that will be changing in the coming school year and families will again have to pay for their children’s breakfast and lunches.

Superintendent Fletcher says that a representative from the school will be reaching out to families that have qualified for free or reduced lunches in the past and she encourages parents to watch the school’s facebook page and website for more information.

Any families that thing they may qualify for the program can also check the website for forms to apply.
