Tuesday Night’s Storms Cause Some Crop Damage in the Area

Some crop damage was noted in Faribault County from the storms that passed through the area Tuesday night.

Johnson Seeds Agronomist Kyle Ignaszewski says rainfall varied greatly and some of the corn crop suffered root lodging from the high winds.  But he adds that a lot of the time, given how small the roots are at this point in time, the corn will stand back up on its own.

The full yield potential for much of the damaged corn is still possible depending on how severe the damage turns out to be.  Harvest may be more challenging in those areas and patience will be required.
