B.E. Council Honors Former Fire Chief and Discusses a Beekeeping Permit

There was a packed house for the first part of the Blue Earth City Council meeting Tuesday night as the council honored former Fire Chief Roger Davis.  Davis thanked the council and his former colleagues and said he sincerely appreciated the consistent teamwork and cooperation with the Blue Earth Police Department and the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office.

Next the Council tackled a sticky situation regarding a beekeeping permit.  Blue Earth resident Jaqui Drews has been attempting to obtain a beekeeping permit for her home on 1st Street since 2019.  Tuesday night, after considerable discussion and opposition from a neighbor who runs a daycare across the street from Drews, the council ultimately voted to deny the permit request.
