The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one vehicle crash on 160th street about 2 miles southwest of Wells. The accident happened at around 4am on Saturday morning. When officers arrived, they located a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado on its side that had crashed into a tree and knocked over a utility pole.
The driver of the truck, 51 year old Chris Warmka of rural Wells, was still in the vehicle and needed to be extracated. Due to his injuries, Warmka was transported by helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for further treatment.
Alcohol or controlled substance impairment is believed to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation. Assisting at the scene were the Wells Police Department, the Wells & Easton Fire Departments and the Wells Ambulance Service.
