Swea City Man Sufferes Possible Life Threatening Injuries in Motorcycle Accident

A Swea City man had to be transported by Air Ambulance following a motorcycle accident early Tuesday Morning.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies received a 911 call reporting a motorcycle accident, with one person involved, just before 3am Tuesday.  Swea City Ambulance and Fire were dispatched to the scene, near the intersection of Ash Avenue and 3rd Street on the city’s south side.

As Deputies arrived on the scene, they conducted a brief investigation and determined 35 year old Jessie Cassidy of Swea City, was traveling westbound on Ash Avenue, the motorcycle he was riding went over the curb on the north side of the street and struck a tree near the intersection with 3rd Street.

Auto Launch was activated for Mercy Air Life Flight to come to the scene, landing on the football field next to the North Union Middle School building.  Cassidy as taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City with what were described as possible life threatening injuries.

The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Mason City Police Department to execute a search warrant on Cassidy to collect a blood specimen to determine the possibility of drugs or alcohol. 

The case remains under investigation.
