Albert Lea Police Requesting the Public’s Help in Locating Shooting Suspect

The Albert Lea Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate a shooting suspect.

On Sunday, the Albert Lea Police Department was dispatched to a call of a man with a gun, when Officers arrived at the 1300 block of Louis Street, they heard what sounded like a gunshot and found a 34 year old male outside a residence who had suffered a gunshot wound to his lower extremities. 

First responders administered aid to the victim and he was transported by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.

An Officer also saw a person running east from Louis Street and tried to follow the suspect but were unable to locate them.  The suspect was last seen in the area of the 1200 block of Dunham Street.  The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit assisted in the search. 

The suspect has been identified as a 19 year old Javen Juan Moreno.  Police say Moreno is believed to be armed with a hand gun and should be considered dangerous.

Albert Lea Police say this is an isolated incident and they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety.
