19 Year Old Elected Chairman of Congressional District 1 Republicans

The Congressional District 1 GOP has a new chairman who is just 19 years old.

A landslide vote at the Freeborn County GOP’s convention on Saturday elected Aaron Farris as chairman, making him one of the youngest, if not the youngest, elected official for the GOP in southern Minnesota.

The Albert Lea native says he was already working with the late Congressman Jim Hagedorn at the age of 14, who Farris says was aware of his bid to become chairman before his death.

Farris says his main concern is to seek out potential Republican candidates and to garner younger Republican votes, which he said the party has struggled with.  Farris was the District 1 GOP deputy chair last year and secretary prior to that position.
