Traffic Stop in Blue Earth Leads to Drug Charges for a Swea City Man

A Swea City man is facing charges following a traffic stop in Blue Earth.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies from the Faribault County Sheriff’s Department and officers from the Blue Earth Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Saturday.  After conducting a brief investigation, officers arrested 35 year old Jessie Cassidy of Swea City on charges of 3rd degree drug possession and possession of ammunition as a convicted felon.  Both charges are felonies.

Cassidy is also the subject of three active drug related warrants in Kossuth County, one for possession of a controlled substance, a Class B Felony, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a Class D Felony and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the traffic stop led to Kossuth County Deputies executing a search warrant on Sunday at Cassidy’s residence in Swea City.  Deputies were assisted in the search by officers from the Iowa State Patrol and the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office.
