In State Wrestling
Only one of our area Class A qualifiers is still alive after the first day of individual action at the state tournament. That is Maple River/USC 132 pounder Boden Simon. Simon won in the first round, then lost in round 2, but won in the wrestlebacks last night to stay alive. He will now wrestle in the consolation quarterfinals between 9:30 and 10 this morning. You can hear that match on 98.1 FM.
The other Maple River/USC wrestlers, Wyatt Walters, Braxton Simon, Ethan Elvebak, Ethan Evanson, Konnor Harpestad & Cooper Ochsendorf were all eliminated. Blue Earth Area’s trio of Kean Hicks, Adam Schavey & Cory Kitchel were all eliminated as well.
In Class Double-A, Fairmont/Martin Co. West advanced two wrestlers to the semi-finals. They were Jesse Potts at 126 & Max Olson at 220. Also Kain Sanders at 145 is still alive in the consolation quarterfinals, while Ryan Cutler at 120 & Carver Rohman at 160 were eliminated.
