Faribault County Receives Equipment Grant for Zeus, their K9 Officer

The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office had been awarded an equipment grant for their K9 Officer, Zeus.  The grant is valued at $4,100 and was made possible through public donations and general funds from Hero K9.

Zeus is a 7 year old black sable German Shepherd certified in Patrol, Tracking/Trailing and Narcotics.  Zeus has been with K9 Handler/Deputy Sheriff Brittney Gehrking since he was 12 weeks old.  Deputy Gehrking bough Zeus as a pet, but she’d always wanted to be a K9 handler, which is one of the reasons why she became a cop.

Throughout the years Zeus and Deputy Gehrking have worked together, they have assisted in getting several pounds of illegal narcotics off the streets, along with tracking down and locating dangerous suspects.

The equipment grant is made up of an in-squad kennel valued at $2,500 and a door pop & heat alarm system is valued at $1,600.  Zeus will also receive a complementary BarkBox.
