B.E. Council Approves 4th Street Manhole Work

During the Council Meeting on Monday night, Blue Earth City Engineer Wes Brow talked about the condition of the manholes along 4th Street, from Galbraith to Holland Streets.

The manholes were part of new construction 12 years ago, they have since deteriorated significantly due to corrosion resulting from an increase in pressure and effluent gas as the water flows from an 18 inch pipe into, eventually, a 24 inch pipe.

Brown says, in some places, the manholes have been eroded to the point where concrete aggregate can be viewed.  He recommends rehabbing the 7 affected manholes at a cost of $60,000.  The Council approved his recommendation.
