Albert Lea Woman Pleads Guilty to Drug Possession

A second sentence is sending an Albert Lea woman to prison.

Athena Berg, 28, of Albert Lea, pleaded guilty in August to 3rd Degree Drug Possession.  Berg was arrested in January 2020 after allegedly causing a disturbance at the Freeborn County Law Enforcement Center.  Police say Berg appeared to be in an intoxicated state as she attempted to drive away.  She was stopped a short time later, at which time meth and other drug related items were found inside her vehicle.

Berg was sentenced Monday to two years and 10 months in prison, with credit being given for 186 days already served.

Berg also pleaded guilty in October 2020 to first degree burglary for entering another person’s home and attacking another woman.  She received 63 days in jail and five years of probation for that crime.
