On Tuesday, the cities of Bricelyn, Delavan, Elmore and Frost moved another step closer in being able to begin a broadband project to install fiber optic cable in their cities, courtesy of a grant program that was reviewed and authorized by the Faribault County Board of Commissioners.
Faribault County Economic Development Authority Specialist Annie Nichols made a request that the County Board consider holding a public hearing on the matter during their regularly scheduled meeting on December 21st.
The Board approved a motion to hire CCG Consulting to develop a request for proposal and contract for an internet service provider and engineer for the project.
Central Services Director Lexi Scholten asked the Board to approve the hiring of three individuals to work in the County Sheriff’s Office.
The Commissioners approved the hiring of Erin Beske as the Administrative Coordinator, Kasta Amundson as a full time Dispatch/Jailer and Vincent Do as a Part Time Deputy Sheriff.
The Board also approved Datamaster Transportable Recertification being offered by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for Breath-Alcohol Testing Training for Sheriff’s Department Employees Jennifer Howard and Melissa Sonnek.
A request for Kasta Amundson of the Sheriff’s Department to attend a two day training course for the BCA’s Minnesota Justice Information System was also approved by the Board during Tuesday’s meeting.
