Emergency Management Officials in Martin County were notified of a train derailment that occurred Wednesday Afternoon on the west edge of Fairmont.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the derailment occurred just after 2pm, a short distance south of the Martin County Fairgrounds.
Authorities say eight cars carrying ethanol left the tracks, with four of them overturning.
Northbound traffic was shut down on County Road 26 and 190th Ave, as well as southbound at 130th Street and 190th Ave.
Officials say the area is expect to be closed for an extended period of time.
