MN Lake Couple Meets With City Council About Buying the Old Mill

A Minnesota Lake resident was at this week’s Minnesota Lake City Council meeting to begin discussions with the Council on his desire to buy the Old Mill Restaurant.  Justin Barber and his wife moved to Minnesota Lake a little over a year ago and are interested in opening a family dining restaurant.  The restaurant has been vacant for more than a year and will be sold via auction in the near future.

Barber did express concern about the auction process, noting he did not feel he could outbid someone who just bids on properties and then lets them sit.

The Council seemed very much interested with Barber’s desire to take over the restaurant but did not know if they could provide assistance as far as the auction is concerned.

Council Member Lon Stenzel asked the City Clerk to look into what options the City has.  The Council thanked the Barber’s for attending the meeting and said they will discuss the matter further at their October meeting.
