Mapleton City Council Approves Pension Increase for Firefighters

The Mapleton City Council approved a pension increase for local firefighters at its regular meeting on September 22nd.

Jon Klenk, from the Fire Department Relief Association, was present at the meeting to share the audit report and get approval for the proposed increase in the pension from $2,200 per year to $2,400 per firefighter.

Klenk noted that there are currently 24 fire department members with three or four retiring this year and three new trainees.

Council Member Ken Warner said the pension would be good reason to join the fire department.

The Board approved the increase as presented.
